St.Anthony Of Padua
St.Anthony of Padua, who was declared the doctor of the church on January 16th, 1946, was one of the church's most popular saint. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1195. Son of Martin Vincente and Teresa Pais. Anthony studied scripture and latin classics in Padua. After he found no peace in his studies, he convinced his superiors to transfer him to the Augustinian Santa Cruz Monastrey to continue his studies there. In 1219, he met 5 Franciscans who were travelling to Morocco to preach to muslims. He loved the Franciscans' lifestyle. He felt like he was called by God to leave everything he knew and follow Jesus. He transferred to the Franciscans. On June 13th, 1231 at the age of 36, Anthony was travelling back to Padua when he passed away. The house that he used to live in was then turned into a church, and that church was the church that named him the doctor of the church.
